San Mateo, Calif. - September 29, 2008 – Today Actuate (NASDAQ: ACTU) and Webalo announced a partnership whereby Actuate will resell Webalo’s mobile dashboard solution to their customers as part of a package that includes Actuate’s e.Spreadsheets and BIRT reports. These products will be delivered to BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, Palm, Symbian, and Java-enabled smartphones as part of a packaged Actuate solution. End users will be able to configure their mobile-delivered reports using a wizard to select various options. Webalo’s Mobile Dashboard will be embedded within Actuate’s solution to ensure that customers can deliver and access timely data without being affected by the boundaries of being in an office.
Working through mobile devices is becoming more popular. For the last several years, decision makers have worked to stay connected to work even while away from the office. BlackBerry and smartphone devices enable end users to keep up to date and in constant contact with the office through emails, text messaging, tasks, etc. With more solution providers starting to support mobile access to reports and dashboards, end users can access important information while away from the office.
Actuate quoted IDC: “According to IDC’s Worldwide Mobile Worker Population 2007-2011 Forecast, the number of worldwide mobile workers will reach 1 billion - representing nearly 75% of the U.S. workforce in 2011."1 This means that mobile business solutions will only continue to increase. To stay connected will become essential as more organization expect their employees to use BlackBerry and smartphone devices to stay connected to work. Within the next couple of years, it is quite likely that all BI solutions will have to offer access through mobile devices in order to stay competitive.
