Today Sybase announced their new release - Sybase® IQ 15. This release reveals enhanced capabilities to their column-oriented analytics database offerings, with enhancements such as greater flexibility, lower load latency and enhanced security. With four go-to market targets, Sybase is looking at helping organizations increase their operational efficiencies as a whole.
The new and enhanced features and functionality support the four go-to market target areas of Sybase® IQ 15. These targets are:
- Information Lifecycle Management, whereby organizations can transition data out of current systems and into easily accessible environments to enable long-term business and regulatory reporting.
- Data Aggregators, which are information services organizations that bring disparate information together to provide data and analytics services to their clients.
- Reporting Services that provide end users with either departmental or enterprise-wide ad hoc or canned reports. In addition, organizations can develop dashboards and metrics to enable performance management functionality.
- Advanced Analytics that enable complex and high performance queries to support operational objectives.
As the market changes and the role of decision-making within organizations expands from tactical and strategic towards operational, day-to-day requirements, organizations need the ability to become more agile with their use of analytics to help support those decisions.
Until recently, business intelligence solutions were mostly being applied to historical data. Now, with the new focus on how to get the most out of operations, organizations are turning towards high-performance analytics to help them with that role. And with advanced data warehousing solutions that can also provide advanced analytics capabilities, organizations can begin to achieve this more rapidly.
Sybase IQ’s use of column-based architecture and multiplex grid configuration enables data to be indexed and sorted at much quicker rates than traditional data warehouses. This translates into information being delivered more quickly to those who need it, the ability to meet tight SLAs, and with added compression the ability to analyze larger data sets. With growing data volumes and the addition of disparate and external data sources, handling more data from diverse sources will become a regular requirement. Sybase IQ 15 is an extension of an already leading industry offering that enables organizations to move beyond traditional analytics towards operational decision making.
