SAP® BusinessObjects™ BI Solutions Help Sailing Crews Create the Winning Strategy, Transform Spectator Experience With Real-time Insight into Racers’ Progress
The 2009 SAP 5O5 World Championship
, one of the most challenging classes of sailing races across the globe, is taking place in the San Francisco Bay from August 21-30, 2009. Designed in France during the 1950s as a speedy, light-weight, two-person boat, today 5O5 boats race in more than 18 countries and the sport is dominated by top-notch sailors and Olympians. The currents and winds in the San Francisco Bay Area make it one of the most complex race courses for the 5O5. But the 5O5 is a “one-design” boat: sailors with the best strategy and skills win – not the owner of the most advanced boat. SAP AG (NYSE: SAP ) is contributing SAP® BusinessObjects™ business intelligence (BI) solutions that will help competing teams develop their strategy, evaluate results at the end of each racing day and use that insight to hone their strategy for the next leg of the race. SAP is also leveraging its BI solutions, enabling spectators to track race results in real time via reports delivered to handheld devices or through interactive, online maps. The announcement was made at the SAP 2009 5O5 World Championship.
