T'is the season to be predicting. The blog Consumer Centric has provided their take on what 2014 has in store for big data:
With just a little over two weeks left in 2013, we thought it might be interesting to come up with some predictions on Big Data trends we could see emerge in the next year. These could be way off the mark, only time will tell, but here they are.
Our first prediction, is that companies will begin to move away from the traditional centralized IT setup of a single department, and a single location. Instead, the growing trend of acquiring enterprise applications from SaaS vendors, and also the currently emerging trend of BDaaS, will mean that companies will become less focused on internal capabilities, and come to rely more heavily on external service providers.
