DataFlux, a leading provider of data management software, today announced that Carl Zeiss, a global leader in the optical and optoelectronic industries, has selected DataFlux technology to help improve the overall quality of its data. The global company will initially focus on two data-driven projects: a migration to a new SAP CRM system for customer data, and an initiative around standardizing data in the product and materials classification area. By improving the quality of its data, Carl Zeiss aims to increase customer satisfaction, lower costs and boost competitiveness.
Carl Zeiss currently operates several different customer data systems around the world. Prior to merging customer data into a centralized SAP CRM system, DataFlux Data Management Studio will be used to verify the quality of the data and correct any problem areas. To help facilitate a successful data migration, Carl Zeiss has appointed a group of data stewards in each country to oversee the process.
To better manage the company’s product and material classification, Carl Zeiss has launched an internal strategic initiative underpinned by Data Management Studio. The objective of this initiative is to standardize product and material data to enable the company to respond to orders more quickly, as well as partially automate the process to improve competitiveness and lower costs.
"Good data is essential to a company's long-term success. We have started strategic initiatives on data quality in two important areas. The capabilities of the DataFlux Data Management Studio, the leading solution available on the market, have won us over," says David Deeg, master data architect at Carl Zeiss.
"More and more companies are becoming aware of just how important strategic initiatives for data quality are, along with the associated benefits. Correcting data prior to a migration is a clever approach to get the fastest possible return on investment with the new system," says Gabriele Smith, sales manager for Northern Europe at DataFlux.
DataFlux has already begun the Data Management Studio implementation at Carl Zeiss. The data correction will take place over the next several months.
