Composite Software Details Data Virtualization Best Practices and Implementation Methodologies

Tuesday, April 19, 2011

Composite Software, the data virtualization performance leader, today announced the availability of an implementation methodology and best practices white paper aimed at helping organizations accelerate data virtualization adoption and implementation success. Based on actual data virtualization project implementation experiences from hundreds of Composite Data Virtualization Platform deployments in a range of industries and use cases, these resources are cataloged in a new white paper, Composite Data Virtualization Implementation Methodology and Best Practices, and is available now as part of the Data Virtualization Leadership Series™, a forum for groundbreaking white papers, articles and webcasts by leading IT industry analysts and advanced data virtualization practitioners.

The methodology spelled out in the white paper spans the complete Data Virtualization software development lifecycle including Strategy, Planning & Governance, Solution Architecture, Configuration & Set Up, Design & Development, Deployment, Operation and Improvement. The white paper identifies the resources, i.e. best practices, documentation, white papers, tools, consulting services and more that Composite provides to optimize each stage.

“With increasing amounts of data located in an ever growing number of disparate data sources worldwide—there will be a premium placed on data virtualization best practices and methods for coping with most-efficiently integrating this data for business intelligence and analytics,” said Colin White, president of BI Research, a leading research and consulting firm focusing on business intelligence and data management. “Composite Software is to be applauded for sharing its extensive experiences and methodologies through this white paper.”

“Composite Software is an excellent data virtualization platform,” added Kenny Sargent, Compassion International’s Technical Lead for Enterprise Data Products. “In the last few months, we’ve been applying emerging data virtualization best practices combined with new ways of using tried-and-true set theory principles in conjunction with Composite. We have had multiple significant wins, along with some very happy customers, in timeframes that we would not have previously believed possible. We consider the combination of these to be a great blessing to our internal customers, Compassion International, and ultimately, the children that we serve. In addition, we’re having a lot more fun.”

“We have implemented the Composite Data Virtualization Platform at several of the largest global organizations that contributed to the development of these important best practice resources,” said Christopher Bradley, Business Consulting Director with IPL (Information Processing Limited), a UK-based IT services company and Composite Software partner. “When blended with internal and external staff resources, this combination of knowledge, tools, processes and more will enable both immediate implementation success and on-going self sufficiency.”

“I am very proud of my team's hard-earned knowledge captured in this white paper, the culmination of over one hundred man-years of experience working with the pioneering organizations in the data virtualization field,” said Tait Kirkham, vice president of field technical operations at Composite Software who manages Composite’s implementation efforts. “This paper will help ensure an organization’s data virtualization objectives are achieved efficiently and effectively and they gain highest possible return on their data virtualization investments.”
