The Guardian Maps Out Global Statistics on Marijuana

by Dashboard Insight, Dashboard InsightWednesday, October 23, 2013

Put that in your pipe and smoke it. From cost to usage, the Guardian has mapped out statistics around the globe pertaining to marijuana.

"Uruguay is creating the world's first legal national market for marijuana - and it plans to start sales off at $1 a gram. Despite the hazards of collecting official statistics on illegal activities, that is exactly the retail price the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime had estimated. We looked at the rest of their data to create the interactive maps below.

How do retail prices compare? Which countries have the highest rates for marijuana consumption? Where is drug trafficking an issue? Click on the drop-down list to switch between indicators, then zoom in on a country for extra detail."

Check out the interactive map here and filter on things such as typical retail price, legal status, or use per 100 people.
