Information Builders, an independent leader in business intelligence (BI) solutions, today announced that the company was ranked as a leader in a new Dresner Advisory Report, "The Updated Mobile Business Intelligence Market Study." Dresner analyzed 20 different vendors for the report and recognized Information Builders' WebFOCUS BI platform at the top, based on its mobile platform support, level of platform integration, and number of BI features supported.
The report underscores mobile's growing popularity in the enterprise and how it is changing the way organizations use BI tools and solutions. Dresner released the first version of its mobile BI report in September 2010, but decided to update the report to reflect the rapid industry changes and new software introductions of the past six months. Of the respondents surveyed, 70 percent expect a quarter of their user base to use BI exclusively through their mobile devices within two years. A quarter of the respondents reported even more aggressive plans for mobile BI deployment, predicting that 50 percent of their user base will rely solely on their devices for BI by 2013.
Information Builders' web-based approach to BI has enabled the company to provide comprehensive data access to employees both inside and outside of the enterprise. Now, as the workforce becomes increasingly mobile, the company is delivering that same value to organizations operating on BlackBerry, iPhone, Droid and other similar devices. The users surveyed by Dresner reported that WebFOCUS supports the features they consider most critical to the success of mobile BI, such as alerts, drill-down capabilities, and viewing critical reports and dashboards from any data source.
"The traditional workforce is changing rapidly, and today's information workers are demanding the ability to access data on the go," said Howard Dresner, president and founder of Dresner Advisory Services. "Mobile BI is the great enabler, allowing information to be accessed wherever and whenever users need it. We've seen significant enhancements in the industry in the few short months since we released our initial Mobile BI report, and expect the field to continue to evolve with many more options emerging in the near future."
"It's evident that mobile BI is a platform of growing importance," said Gerald Cohen, CEO and president of Information Builders. "As users increasingly choose smartphones and tablets over desktops and laptops, the ability to access BI content on these devices is of tantamount importance. We've honed our BI strategy with this in mind, and are honored to have our platform recognized so highly in the Dresner report."
Dresner Advisory Services is an independent research organization dedicated to delivering innovative insight into the business intelligence and performance management markets.
The Mobile Business Intelligence Market Study was created as a way to dispel the hype surrounding "Mobile BI" - by giving voice to those using or planning for Mobile BI solutions.
