SAP AG today announced the appointment of Oliver Bussmann as chief information officer (CIO), effective September 1, 2009. Bussmann will report directly to SAP Executive Board member Erwin Gunst, and will be responsible for SAP's cross-departmental IT function and will support the company's strategic objectives. As a company operating globally, SAP is continuously strengthening its character of a transparent organization that has full clarity on internal processes as well as on the market environment, and is able to make facts-based decisions fast and accurately. The service-oriented architecture of SAP's IT platform provides the perfect foundation to constantly expanding this capability.
Bussmann has a proven track record in his career spanning nearly 20 years in IT management. Most recently, he was regional CIO of Allianz for North America and Mexico (NAFTA). His prior roles include positions in the Allianz Group in Germany and the United States, as well as at Deutsche Bank. He began his career at IBM in Frankfurt, Germany, where he was responsible for the retail banking division.
