Spotfire has announced the latest version of its enterprise analytics platform, Spotfire DXP 2.0. Moreover, TIBCO announced that it has signed an agreement to acquire Spotfire. TIBCO said it plans to retain the Spotfire brand and operate Spotfire as a business unit with in TIBCO. Spotfire DXP 2.0 includes a new Web client, as well as interactive reporting and customization capabilities. "We are now delivering to the market really the next generation of business intelligence and our analytics platform is being enhanced with capabilities in our 2.0 release that will bring it to every employee in the company," Mark Lorion, director of product marketing, Spotfire, told 5 Minute Briefing. "We are releasing a new interface which requires zero installation so it is running over the Web. Any employee, any customer, any business partner can run an analysis that was created on Spotfire technology."
A second major piece of the Spotfire announcement is a capability called Broadcast Services. "It basically automates the generation and the distribution of these analytic reports and automatically sends those to communities of users in the company," said Lorion. With the Broadcast Services, Spotfire DXP analysis templates automatically generate new analysis based on time or event triggers or date changes.
